The Royale-IX network is mainly focused on redundancy and stability. We think that downtime isn't acceptable,
this is why we have a redundant network on multiple locations to provide high-end connectivity from our trusted providers.

This is our main network peer. A majority of our traffic comes from Equinix in Amsterdam, and is received from a private high-speed
cable to other pop locations.
Equinix is renowned for their extensive peering hub, and excellent peering providers. Our core network equipment is located there to ensure a low-latency webbing to larger peering providers.
Backup & peering Network
This is our main backup location, most of the traffic goes through Equinix but if there's an outage Nikhef will take over.
All cross connects to individual peers also run via Nikhef, Nikhef has a direct connection to our core routing in Equinix and Dataplace.
Dataplace is our main compute location and is less focused on connectivity, dataplace is located close to our office for quick access by our employees
Dataplace has direct connections to most other datacenters to have a redundant connection via multiple datacenters which have multiple peerings.
SmartDC is just like Dataplace mainly for computing, it also has direct connections to datacenters like Equinix and Nikhef for connectivity.
SmartDC also has peerings to strengthen our network which are processed in house to filter large scale DDoS attacks and bring them down to something that won't harm the network.
This is our secundary location for connectivity and is also used as a backup if issues occur that take down a big part of the Dutch network.
Equinix is renowned for their extensive peering hub and excellent peering providers, our core network equipment is located here to ensure low latency networking to big peering providers.
